"And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on, and on and on." So you're telling us that the Reform Party of the working class is run by the finacial rich and the industrial right! Hmm....Maybe the government in power should put a stop to this money machine. OH NO THEY CAN'T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS THEM TOO! Darn it. Well knowing that my vote won't count for what the party is really going to do with it leaves me with no recourse but to blow my brains out. Except I refuse to give these assholes the satisfaction. I do see one silver lining though. As I'm really really old I don't have to suffer the politics of our once proud nation for a WHOLE lifetime.
The simplest answer is a democracy voucher at public expense of £5 per elector per annum. The elector can donate it to a party of choice, or waste it. Cost about £100 million per annum, an absolute bargain. All other donations and equivalents then banned.
This is a very interesting idea. Are you familiar with Paul Evans’ pamphlet ‘Save Democracy - Abolish Voting’? The title is lovely Swiftian but he has ideas along these lines https://www.paul-evans.org/save-democracy-abolish-voting/
I was not aware of it, and unfortunately it seems to be out of print. From the amazon description, the concept fits with my book Reinventing Democracy. But my book offers a potential solution, namely a written constitution for a federal UK. You should read it.
Lots of surprises from this article! I'm surprised that Reform's fund-raising is going so badly. There are numerous organisations which would love to see them in power. I wonder if they are getting in benefits in kind or voluntary work...
Surprised to see that Labour and the Tories are receiving donations on this scale, despite their diminished popularity. I wonder what payback their donors are expecting for their support, espeically as the parties are extremely vulnerable right now.
Always sad to see that our electoral system is so reliant on big money.
I hope the writers of this article don't mind me mentioning the group below. I am not saying that they are the only answer at this time or that I agree with everything they say. But I think these sorts of movements are one way that we will get a more representative system:
Farage is the ultimate spoofer. He's so good he makes Boris Johnson seem like a rank amateur. A dangerous spoofer at that is Nigel. The friend of the working class? Don't you believe it.
I would like to write an article about Palantir and the contract with the NHS for Americans to properly understand both the NHS and the contract. I’m going to need a little bit of help. Could you please send me the most accurate articles written on this topic? Thanks a lot.
