AI? If you're like me you don't understand all that this technology encompasses. Our politicians obviously don't either. We're constantly hearing about how they take the advise of one person because they speak the language. This is proving dangerous. That one person has his or her fingers in so many pies that we cannot be sure they are telling the truth or simply making money on all fronts. They advise under many acronyms. As technology is growing by leaps and bounds daily it seems we are left depending on people who cannot be questioned because we don't know the questions to ask. We need transparency of course but we also need that transparency to be in "layman's" language. Can it be done to everyones satisfaction? Probably not. I would hope that like with a doctors diagnosis the government asks for a second opinion until we are sure of what we really want and what we don't. Also that they find out who benefits, in case it's just the advisor and his "group."

As I suspected Labour had promised to clean up politics before being elected then do the total opposite once in power. Little wonder trust in politicians is at an all time low.

Hi James. I don't mean to be facetious but trust in politicians has NEVER been at an all time high! It's the nature of the beast. They have to lie to get elected and then take a whole different tack once they're in. tRump is an extreme example. I voted for Labour all my life until this last election in which I put my tick in the Social Democrats box. I saw before the election how Starmer's Labour was changing dramatically from the working mans party. Also I sure wasn't as hell going to vote Tory or Reform!. The other parties struck me as too new to try whereas the Lib/Dems at least had a policy that I could get behind. Of course they may have turned out to be the same old, same old. You pays your money and you takes your chance. What a way live!

I agree with you but feel the corruption and lies are worse than ever, I do believe the whole system is far worse than it has ever been. Sadly under the current electoral system we will always have either a labour or tory government.

“plans to digitise the civil service using AI”

We can anticipate how this might play out given the current state of AI art: AI at DWP hallucinating non existent benefit fraud leading to miscarriages of justice on a scale that dwarfs Horizon; AI at the Home Office hallucinating sham marriages leading to more deportations than Windrush.

Unfortunately that may be true. Yet if we understand politicians instead of politics maybe we can "encourage" ('-') them to do what WE want. Which is the goal after all hmmm? We can't tell others what to believe or we become just like them, but we can educate ourselves not to fall for their garbage. If every individual could do that then maybe just maybe we can have a government for the people by the people. PEOPLE POWER! ('-')
