Hard to. believe that trade agreements that affect us all haven't been done in public. Why do governments work in secret if the outcome is "good for our country?" As you say Nick, to not allow debate says that things are not being done on the up and up. We are the people it effects. The farmers, manufacturers etc need to be involved in negotiations. I know it's a hassle but democracy ensures that the "deal" is an appropriate one for ALL concerned otherwise we may as well have no-nothing Boris back!
We will not be humiliated. I hope. I'm relying on Starmer not to be such an idiot as to think the UK population would settle for products out of the US that don't require the, in the food industry, to be free of chemicals that are regularly used in the US because their Food protection laws are really inadequate. They treat the fowl with chlorine because they are too lazy to to process them to a higher standard. By "lazy" I mean it's not cost-effective for them to do so.
You can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. In other words, we don’t have to buy foods that come in from the US, just like I don’t buy Israeli avocados.
But meat from the US might well be put into soups, stews and other meat-laden processed food that the public buys, often at low prices which people with little money depend on. I can think of other ways in which imported meat may be used. I am so disappointed in this government.
You've got a very credible point there! I think the government should tell us which processed foods contain American beef and fowl etc. at the least! I know he wants to have a win after Reforms' escalation but we won't give it to him if he refuses to publish what they actually agreed to. Btw, we shouldn't be eating processed foods anyway. I know it's not easy to do because those foods are cheaper, but you've got to ask yourself WHY?
I will also definitely not buy any product from the US that doesn't meet UK guidelines on safety. If the US wants to sell to us they have to maintain standards we are used to.

More humiliation for the UK. And a return to cherry picking and cake eating where future relationships with EU are concerned.
